Interview conducted by Alan Cherry as part of the LDS Afro-American Oral History Project of the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University on 28 May 1987. Thompson describes his family life and religious experiences growing up in Jackson, Mississippi and his career as a musician. He tells how he courted and married his wife and discusses his conversion to the Mormon Church and its impact on his family. He comments on his own experiences as a black Mormon and those of black Mormons in general.
